Cal Poly's Western Bonanza Junior Livestock Show began as a senior project at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1985. Western Bonanza is the largest student run livestock jackpot in the United States. The student management team works hard during Fall Quarter preparing for committee work in January and gathering sponsors for the show. In Winter Quarter over 100 students work hard to ensure Western Bonanza's success. Cal Poly's Western Bonanza is a non-profit event held at the Paso Robles Event Center in Paso Robles, CA. During the weekend of Western Bonanza many family members and friends are unable to see the youth exhibitors showcase their livestock which are judged on conformation and overall appearance. With unlimited viewership the swine, beef, sheep, and goat shows will be able to reach those who wish to see the livestock show, but could not attend the event.
