LongTail JW Player Plugin
We have developed an add-on which allows existing LongTail JW customers to stream Live and Linear content via Livestream directly into their JW Player.
From the Developer
This module allows you to play any www.Livestream.com channel or on-demand clip into your JW Player. Livestream is the leader in interactive live video streaming offering both Free (ad-supported) and Premium service options.
Benefits
Once you set the player to use the Livestream network, you will be able to use all of the Livestream Live and Linear broadcast tools like you normally would, with the streams directed to your JW Player.
The plugin was developed using the Livestream Player API, and offers the following key benefits to JW customers:
- Go LIVE instantly in your existing JW player template using any USB cam or DV cam (or stream remotely using a datacard or mobile phone).
- Schedule linear broadcasts in your existing JW player template for 24/7 television programming to increase viewer retention.
- Leverage high-quality production graphics and tools with ease, including ticker, logo bug, lower third, straps, and much more.
- Self-service setup within minutes with server-side recording and proven scalability to 100,000+ simultaneous viewers.
How to use it
- Signup and launch a livestream channel (Free or Premium, instant)
- Get a Livestream developer key to authorize the domain where you are hosting the JW Player SWF
- As of version 4.6, the player includes native support for streaming through the www.Livestream.com service. This is set up by setting the file flashvar to the name of your www.Livestream.com channel, the type flashvar to livestream and the livestream.devkey flashvar to an API key from www.Livestream.com that is valid for your domain.
For more details on how to use the Network Plugin visit the JW Player page in the Livestream user guide.
About LongTail JW Player
The JW FLV Player is the Internet's most popular and flexible media player. It supports playback of any file or streaming format the Adobe Flash Player can handle, various playlists formats, a wide range of settings and an extensive javascript API. The skinning functionality allows you to completely customize its look and the plugin architecture allows you to easily extend the player with features such as sharing, recommendations, searching and analytics. Since the launch of the first JW Player in 2005 (which a little company named YouTube used as their first player), individuals and companies have downloaded nearly five million copies.
