Mother Mariam Thresia, foundress of the Congregation of the Holy Family, was beatified on April 9, 2000 by His Holiness Pope John Paul II at St. Peter’s square, Rome. She is the 4th Indian out of 5 to have been beatified by the church so far. Beatification in Roman Catholicism is the last stage of canonization. The beatified person is called” Blessed”.Blessed Mariam Thresia (1876-1926) is commemorated in the church on June 8th.She is one of the modern manifestations of sanctity in our church.
