Default Streaming using VLC

I was wondering if there was a way to stream using the VLC player. it currently supports RTSP, RTP (MPEG), RTP (Audio/Video Profile), IceCast, etc but not RTMP. I was wondering if there was an alternate protocol that we could use and if so, details on setting it up

Unfortunately, it is not possible to stream using VLC. You could instead download Procaster and use screen capture mode to broadcast the video being played on VLC.

Please keep in mind per our terms of use, any channel broadcasting copyrighted material will be immediately locked.

it's not to broadcast copyrighted material, its because I use Linux and Procaster under WINE doesn't capture my audio (I use OSS). I have been unable so far to get FFMPEG to communicate with the server using rtmp

edit: its also not to broadcast media of any sort, it's for desktop capture

Same issue. I want to use VLC or any media player in desktop mode to show my Machinima during livestreams?

Filbones,

I recommend you download Procaster (Livestream.com/procaster) and use screen capture mode to broadcast the video being played on VLC.

Your suggestion is awful. We want to stream with other programs because Procaster is a freaking resource hog.

I'm not certain if this works on mac but you could try x-split or the livestream studio program.
