no video in video folder

i recorded my video and with my windows movie maker open i also opened my videos folder. when i double clicked on my video it tried to open it in windows movie maker, which is what i want right? but it said that its not a valid project for windows movie maker?? and i would directly click import video on windows movie maker but when i go to my videos folder in there its empty. so if u have a solution to that too that would be great! thanks!
