Question PCs without DV input

I purchased PC from Dell and there are no DV inputs. Only USB. Has anyone tried the RCA jacks to USB converter to feed the camcorder into the PC?

Is there a new PC with DV inputs?

Is the PC industry doing away with DV inputs?

How will the RCA to USB converter work with Procaster?

bmorisoli,

If your camera has composite outputs (RCA), we recommend using a Canopus ADVC-110 to bring your video source into your computer via Firewire. At this time no composite to USB devices are officially supported by Livestream.

That is a problem. My new computers do not come with DV inputs (firewire).

Do you know if the Procaster 20.3 version may have the software?

Default WinTV VDP source

In addition, I installed WinTV v7 in my laptop. It has a RCA to USB converter that works with the WinTV software. From this I get an display image of my live feed through from the camera with audio. I then tested with Procaster desktop and was able to broadcast the image live.

When I was setting up Procaster, there were three camera options listed:

1) my webcam
2)VDP source
3) No camera

What is a VDP source? I could not find it in the users guide.

bmorisoli,

We do not have an ETA on if or when Procaster would support a composite to USB capture device. Is your computer a desktop model or a laptop? Perhaps you could purchase a PCI FireWire card which would allow you to capture your feed with a Canopus.

The Pinnacle 710-USB device has been known to work with Procaster on the video side - however you'd need to capture the audio through your computer's line in port. It's possible that this could cause a minor synch issue. This is not a recommended workflow, but it is a workaround that you could use.

The "VDP source" is likely Procaster detecting one of your peripherals.

Best,
Jason

I would doublecheck the peripherals connected to your computer.

Best,
