Okay here is my pc information to let you know what I have working with and my internet. I will show you my settings and such. Now I run the game usually at max resolution that my monitor can handle. Which for most part is 1920x1080. I took screenshots of all the settings, pc rig, and internet ping/speed test. To NY as you have asked multiple people. As you will notice I disable saving videos to my videos folder and such, but left all the livestream settings on. With all this information can you give me a better idea of how to record footage at better performance. Yea my CPU usage is around 80% which is quite normal and that is with all programs exited. Especially firefox, skype, msn live, and others. Hopefully from this information you guys can figure out how to better improve fps and cpu usage.
::Here is my pc rig:: This is an example of a decent rig that has major trouble doing streaming even on normal mode, and must I add that the performance drop is horrible if I run game in high resolution. If I downgrade the resolution to much lower setting the video looks horrid in quality. ![]() ::Here is my Speed Test going TO NY:: Here is my internet speed I have ![]() ::Here are my Procaster Settings::

HolyDeath3000,

I usually stream games like Fable 3, Duke Nukem Forever, Red Faction, I am about to try to do Fallout New Vegas to see if it streams okay, but due to my monitor size of 1080p resolution when I play game it eats up much more resources. Though at my grandparents house they had lesser rig but a resolution of 1080x1024 or something like that and I could stream those games without much issue. As long as I keep the bitrate low and such. But i set output as you've noticed really low. I tried streaming Red Faction Armageddon when I used my pc but noticed even on DX9 it was laggy pretty bad. I am quite certain its b/c of my resolution that I am playing on. But like I said, if I do lower resolution its not going to look as good quality. I might have to drop down to Mobile Streaming quality which shouldn't be a problem.
Also I have looked at the requirements for procaster and I have noticed an upload rate of 1500kbps which I don't have hence forth why i do such low upload bitrate. Duke Nukem Forever of course I have to run in window mode since it doesn't work with game mode in full screen due to its game engine support issue. |

Sorry for double reply but I did some test with Fallout NV and since I am running quite a bit of mods along with the game, it does eat up resources. I noticed if I use VHC Capture Cam for desktop recording it comes out in excellent quality and no pixelization. If I choose no Camera on recording livestream it comes out in pretty bad quality with alot of pixelization. I tried on lower settings and does lag quite a bit but I will try other games. Had to use Desktop recording mode due to how I launch my game, using a Mod Manager and it executes differently so the game mode couldn't detect the game. Though I tried normal launch from the Fallout Launcher and Procaster still didn't detect the game. Though like I said I have a bunch of mods on that game. Hence forth why it was laggy I believe during recording.
Here are prime examples of my footage: FalloutNV Test 2 - http://livestre.am/RZKx (With VHC Capture Cam) FalloutNV Test 3 Failure - http://livestre.am/RZKw (Without VHC) Used Mobile Stream Settings Dragon Age 2 Footage - http://livestre.am/S0ji Last edited by HolyDeath3000; 13th July 2011 at 15:09. Which version of Procaster are you running? We just released a new beta yesterday, which is available on the forums that has speed improvements.

That the one I am using actually. Downloaded it this morning. As long as I can get DX 9 to play I am good, b/c for most new games that run at DX11, which my video card only goes up to DX 10.1, it usually lags on its own. I think I might have to just lower resolution, I know most games at higher resolution eat up more resources and take up much more when on high settings then if I put it around 1280x720 or so. Since I am running at 1080p resolution it probably best if I just lower it. Shouldn't be that bad. I figured out how if I run VHS Capture as camera on recording both desktop and game mode it gives the video footage much better quality. And it seems to take same amount of resource if I just ran without the VHC cam mode. Thanks though for your help, I know how hard you guys work and your activeness on forums is much appreciated. I just do these recordings mostly for people to see, I am not some big company or anything showing off game footage.
Thanks again and I appreciate it.::Edit:: I tried some tweaking on VHS Capture and was able to further performance in the streaming. Also I found out that when I was streaming DA2 it was on DX 11 so that was why it was lagging so much. I can stream DA2 with much better performance on DX9 and found that at times I was perfect streaming without issues or overload of cpu. It seems the most recent procaster has improved slightly in dealing with resources. Last edited by HolyDeath3000; 13th July 2011 at 19:14. Reason: New Found Info |
