Default A lot of dropped frames.

Hello there,

I have some ~SERIOUS~ problems with my streaming:

Firstly, I can't really use Procaster. It starts good (steady 30 fps) but then after some time it kinda selfdestructs, causing massive frame drops to the point where it says the frame rate is too low and needs to reconnect.

Secondly, because of the Procaster-killing-itself-issue I switched over to FME/VHScreen Cap combo. I used the new FME until I read 2.5 is superior.

Now I always had problems with it too and I can't figure them out.

Like today I streamed a game and it ran PERFECTLY smooth, no stuttering/lag on my side, though the stream was really choppy when there was just something going on in the game.
After streaming for about 2hours I checked my FME and it said it had to drop 85000 (!!!) frames.

My streaming settings are:
768x576, 420 kbps video and 25 fps.
with audio it totals to 440 kbps.

My system:
Intel C2Q (Q9550 @ 3 Ghz)
4 Gigs of RAM
Nvidia GTX 260

My connection (using wire,not wireless,according to speedtest.net):

Downstream: ~24 Mb/s
Upstream: ~1.2 Mb/s

I think my system and internet should be good enough to stream those 440 kbps without slowdown but it just won't.

Does somebody have some protips how to solve this?

Please use both these tests and post a link to the results of each

I know you've done this

Do this too.
http://www.pingtest.net/

If you're stream a game, drop your monitor frame size to 1024x768 or smaller and see if that helps.
Also check your CPU% in use.

kinda forgot about this thread so here goes:

note: I usually get about 25 Mb/s down and 1.5 Mb/s up on my usual server, but for some reason I can get only like 5 Mb/s downstream out of it right now as I'm testing this.

also: I can stream just fine on Justin.tv with a much higher bitrate without any lag or excessive frame drops.

That's a good connection.
What is your video source for the stream?
What happens if you go straight into Studio?

I use VHScreenCap to capture.

Oh,and I tried the new Procaster version today and it seemed to work just fine.
Though, FME is still causing a lot of lag.

But I'm happy I can finally stream using Procaster again.
