One more vote. I use Mac, but would like to have a Linux option for "throwaway" and high-risk use.

You will have millions of users on Linux, but you may have a lot of support headaches because of all the different distributions and hardware support.

I would suggest you concentrate on Ubuntu and Fedora. They have the largest user bases and best support. That way the communities can give you a lot of feedback and support. Also that gives you a Debian flavor and a RedHat flavor for the other distribution communities to work from.

One additional thing LiveStream might consider is to roll their own distro so they can control hardware support and recommended resources, e.g. processor class and speed, installed RAM, etc. and users can choose to test it in a virtual environment or install on their own machine.

It might be nice to approach the Ubuntu Studio team (http://ubuntustudio.org/) and see if they are interested in doing the heavy lifting and adding it into their distro.

News, some progress with the development of podcaster?
I use Slackware, Ubuntu, Fedora, Open-Suse, Debian and FreeBSD, I would like to help with testing.

I want to use Webcamstudio with Livestream on my Ubuntu laptop. It works with webcaster but that does not use the format for mobile devices. I would like to use Webcamstudio with Procaster but Webcamstudio is Linux only and Procaster is non-Linux.
