Question iphone & livestream studio

Can someone clarify for me that an Apple iPhone 3G 8GB can connect to the livestream studio?

Is it also possible to use the camera on the phone to broadcast LIVE?

This would further tempt me to buy the phone as I had previously been looking at the Nokia Series.

Thankyou in advanced.

Jailbreak phone which will put Cydia (like App Store) on your phone. Then download Qik. Create Qik account. Set Qik to send to Livestream channel of your choice.

I've tested this on iPhone 3GS but it works on iPhone 3G as well.

I've been using this solution for a year now on the 3G (jailbroken). Works fine, although livestream chat back to the phone has not been working for the last two months. The phone will show up in the studio as "external feed" and is automatically recorded. You have to manually put it in the autopilot if you want it there, though.

What I would like to see is the Livestream video streaming to iPhones, like U-stream does. That would really be great!

davidaron, so would I.
What they need to do is an H.264 baseline profile encode, which is what Ustream does. That's what's needed for iPhone viewing.

This means having to broadcast their current FLV variant as well as doing another encode. It seems they don't have the capacity to do that. Part of the issue is that Livestream may need more resources since, unlike Ustream, Livestream is designed as 24/7 streaming which means not only your Livestream but all your "auto-pilot" assets would need to go through that 2nd encode as well.

Just to be codec specific this means that H.263 Flash 7, On2VP6 Flash 8, H.264 MainProfile Flash 9, would all have to be encoded to H.264 Basline Profile.

I should note that if you're using the iPhone, that Qik does do the re-encode to H.264 Baseline although not "live." Once the stream is recorded on Qik, that can be played on iPhone.
