Chat API for JSPlayer.swf?

Is there a way to embed the chat separate from the video? I am using the chromeless JSPlayer.swf java/flash player due to its ability to display the title of the current clip and other channel details dynamically in html. I had read that the new beta chat will be embeddable, but I haven't received any reply to my support email on the topic. So I figured I should ask the community next. Do any of the developers or admins out there know of any chat API or a chat object of some sort?

Yes the new chat will be embedable. It hasn't been released yet but will be fairly shortly.

But I am unsure about the args used to change the background color to black. Currently a majority of the text colors are unreadable with the default white background. Can anyone assist me with this?

Embedding this chat is currently not officially supported, we don't have a dark skin available for it yet. The new chat will have that option though and should be released soon.
