thespshow,

Unless your camera supports digital pass-through you wouldn't be able to stream through USB. The USB connection is typically just a means for transferring prerecorded videos/pictures.

Alright well when I plug it into the computer it opens up so pretty much it connects to the computer but does not show up in procaster. I will just have to record beforehand. Thanks. Bye.

thespshow,

If you're able to provide the model of the camera I can recommend a workflow so you'd be able to live stream.

SouthShelby,

Most cameras do not support digital pass-through, thus they cannot be connected via USB. Is your HDMI port built into your computer or is this a card you installed? In all likeliness this is an HDMI output connection rather then input. I'd suggest using an ADVC-110 if you have a Firewire connection or a Blackmagic Intensity or Decklink card if you have a desktop system.

questionintheheart,

You wouldn't be able to transfer the video feed to or from the Tricaster via Firewire. This is only meant for data transfer. Which system are you hoping to encode with, the Tricaster or PC? I assume the PC, in this case take one of the video outputs from the Tricaster into a video capture device such as the Blackmagic Intensity Pro, Decklink series card or ADVC-110 and then use Procaster to encode.

You can also capture your camera's composite output with something like a Canopus ADVC-110 (your camera's composite output will go into the Canopus, which will then go into your computer via firewire). Note that you can only achieve standard def when using the Canopus.

Best,

I saw this then I visited the link you gave. My question is what card should I use if I have a HDMI output camera (Panasonic HS700) and I would like to livestream with it?
