Default Bitrate too high?

So I started using OBS (Open BroadCaster) for streaming to livestream, and when I setting it up and started the stream. I get a message via email that even though the bit stream I'm streaming in is at 500 kbps yet I'm publishing at 820 kbps.

What causes this? Even though I have set it to 500kbps this still occurs.

Default Both video and audio bitrates

I had the same issue until I figured out that the audio bitrate combined with the video bitrate must be less than 500. I bet you did what I did and just set the video bitrate to 500. Looks like your audio bitrate must be at 320 to add up to 820 total.

Just reduce both until they add up to 500.
