monitoring of voice

Hi there

Just getting a video/screen capture made for a friend of mine,and was wondering,do I need the Podcaster mixer window open to enable the headphone monitor ?

When I close the mixer window down and save the setting,I can't hear myself,so don't know how I am sounding until I playback the video and so far not good ,he,he

Any ideas round this
