Livestream Equipment Help

I have been livestreaming for Occupy Des Moines (www.livestream.com/occupydsm) but am thinking about getting some better quality equipment. Right now I either stream from my phone or a webcam on my computer. I am going to Chicago for the NATO protest and would like to have a quality stream for people to watch. Can someone help direct me in the best direction that would be cost effective (I don't have a lot of $$$) and best quality? Also, are their any organizations that donate equipment to livestreamers for Occupy?
