I am trying to run a 24/7 stream from my old macbook (original core duo 2ghz, 2gb ram maxed out) with a ZR25 (older minidv cam) connected via firewire and I'm having trouble keeping it online. No matter what settings I pick, it seems to peg the cpus to 100% within a few minutes and then cuts the stream off. I tried dropping the resolution down to super low (240x160) and frame rate from native (29.97FPS) to 1FPS and the available bandwidth down to 256kbps, keyframes every 240 frames...nothing seems to help. No matter what it will stream for a few minutes, then die and cut it off. I tried playing with Ustream and justin.tv as other options - j.tv i didnt like the FMLE setup, and Ustream and J.tv don't handle recording as well as Livestream, but I am able to keep a decent 720x480 29.97FPS stream up all day no problem sitting at ~60% cpu, so I think I must be doing something wrong with procaster to break it. Any ideas?
for reference, all the streams are embedded on
www.gregged.com so I can switch between broadcasts relatively easily until I find a happy solution.
Thanks in advance!
