Hercules dj console rmx and vista sound settings

Hello i'm new to the community and i would like some help.
I tried to broadcst music through livestream studio the other day for an audition on an internet radio. Although the guy from the radio helped me set up my camera and sound i had a problem. My sound from the microphone was very poor so i tried to change my sound settings from the button next to the webcam from realtek microphone to hercules dj console rmx line in and the sound bar next to the setting didn't move.i should tell you the the rmx console works as external sound card and that i use windows vista and had my sound settings from control panel for a recording device set to hercules rms line in.i tried to change the input on the computer and after that the output but nothing worked.i would apreciate your help very much thank you for your time.
