Default Importing from client-side recordings: quality seems low

Hi,

I have client-side recordings in 1024x640 and 1280x800 and so on (really nice quality when LIVE).

However, if I wish to edit/crop the client side recording or add some music etc, when I upload the edited file its seems to get screwed-over by the import process, losing a lot of fidelity.

I mean, a LOT.

When I compare the footage of the original - as it was recorded as it was casted - with the client side copy and the uploaded copy, the uploaded copy is just awful.

Please can someone explains why this is and if there's a way around it.
(Are imports deliberately gimped unless you have a pro account?)

Hi,

Livestream currently transcodes uploaded video to FLV using the Sorensen Spark codec (Flash 7), 400Kbps video, 64Kbps audio, 480x360 resolution, 25 fps for free channels.

My point is more about the discrepency between the quality of the recording held in the studio when it is recorded AT SOURCE, WHILE LIVE, and the quality when you upload the same thing through the upload tool.

Bottom line, the upload tool wrecks the quality.

Why is this? Can it be circumvented?

On Premium accounts, one can choose combined bit rates of up to 1700 kb/s for encoding external files.
