Used Audio troubleshoot solution; now have repeated static

Hello,

I use Windows XP and am having huge problems with sound in Procaster. Microphone is fine and dandy, however any sound I try to play via my computer does not work.

I used the instructions in the 'frequently asked questions' thread, enabled Stereo Mix in recording under Realtek HD Audio Input, and now when I broadcast it is repeated static that gradually gets louder. When I play a music track, it repeats with the static and is generally a cacophony of unpleasantness.

I've tried every option given in source (Speaker's Audio, Realtech HD Audio Input, and Default Input Device), and have tried playing sound through: VLC, WMP, and even my old Sonic Stage as a long shot.

The static only happens only when I'm broadcasting.

Any inkling of what else I can try?
