Compatibility with RME Babyface interface?

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up a stream for a live set I'm doing from my laptop this Friday.

I'll be using Ableton Live and I'll be monitoring through my RME Babyface.

Am I right in thinking it's not possible for Procaster to pick up the audio output of Live and that I have to route the output of the Babyface to the inputs?

I've set up the Livestream Studio with no problems (except that it's very taxing on my cpu) by routing the outputs back to (muted) inputs, but I can't seem to get the Procaster to "see" the audio at all. I can set it to use the Mac's built-in mic but that's a rather silly option IMO, considering its quality compared to the RME.

Do you have any suggestions? RME makes nice gear, it would be surprising if Procaster wasn't compatible.

You will need to route your equipment's audio into your Mac in order for Procaster to recognize it. What sort of Mac are you using, and how are you capturing the audio?

Thanks for the reply Jason. I'm using a 2011 Macbook Pro (OSX 10.6.8) with the Babyface as my audio interface.

I'm not routing the audio from external gear into my Mac, I'm generating the audio from Ableton Live internally. For these purposes I could also be playing songs in iTunes or any other application.

I can take my Mac's output and, using the Babyface, send it back to the Babyface's own (muted) inputs so that Livestream Studio can "hear" it. I then just have to select the Babyface as the audio source and it works.

Unfortunately if I select the Babyface in Procaster it doesn't matter what I do - I can't get the software to see my audio stream. So, I'm pretty sure, no matter what the sound source is - internal or external - I can't broadcast it.

Please let me know if any of that doesn't make sense.

I assume you're bringing in your audio via USB, if this is the case Procaster does not support all USB devices. I would suggest bringing in you audio from the Babyface interface via the mic jack on your Mac if possible, but I think you already mention you use that to get sound to the device. Another option might be to user Soundflower to capture your audio from your device, this is a free program that can be used to route your audio from certain devices/programs. Soundflower is then available as an audio source in Procaster.
