More styling effects to text posts?

How can I, too, use bolding, italics, paragraphs etc, the most basic styling effects of text in html pages? <b>bold</b> etc. does not work.

and please, do not suggest that I use some more powerful editor (like Windows WordPad:-) and take a screenshot of that and upload it as a photo post:-)
