Universal Republic recording artist Florence and The Machine is poised to become an even bigger story in 2010, with UK pop/soul sensation Florence Welch and her band about to kick off the most anticipated British invasion of U.S. live venues this year. The spring trek, part of her worldwide The Cosmic Love Tour, finds Florence playing two shows in NYC. Florence added a second show in NYC at Le Poisson Rouge (after Terminal 5 on April 9 had sold out) for Thursday April 8, which will be available to stream via Livestream beginning at 8pm ET. Fans can watch this live concert event at livestream.com/florenceandthemachine and facebook.com/florenceandthemachine.
Florence’s acclaimed debut album Lungs, which has been hailed as a breakthrough effort around the world, reached the number 1 spot on the UK chart after an incredible seven consecutive-month reign in the Top 40. The album is currently number 4 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers Album chart. Florence was nominated for three Brit Awards – Best Female Artist, Best Breakthrough Artist, and Best Album taking home the biggest award of the night with the last for Lungs. The tenacious artist took home a Brit Awards Critic’s Choice trophy last year, pegged as ‘one of the most exciting new artists to debut in the British music scenes in years.’ Most recently, Florence and the Machine have also been nominated for four Shockwave NME Awards.
The 23-year-old star played her first U.S. headlining show this past October to rave reviews at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. The accomplished vocalist is known to change-up both her inspired stagecraft and her musicians, ensuring that no two shows are alike, and that the emotive repertoire on Lungs always gets the full-course treatment from her legendary pipes.
