Live Haiti Coverage on Livestream

Written by Rick Stern at 4:51 pm under Channels.

This week, Haiti has been coping with devastating earthquakes, which has left the small Caribbean country in a state of utter despair. In an attempt to spread the news of the natural disaster strike, Livestream has helped a variety of their grassroots news partners – including Haiti Pal, The UpTake and The Voice Project – to vocalize the recovery process in Haiti.

Haiti based TV channel Haiti Pal has been extensively covering the disaster from day one at http://www.livestream.com/Haiti_Pal. The channel has been a destination for local and global viewers to get the news, live from location. The hosts are additionally taking calls from residents reaching out to relatives and friends, and bringing the news from each area.

Tune into their Livestream channel for 24/7 coverage, live from Haiti:

In continuation with their coverage of Haiti, yesterday morning at around 10:05 AM (ET), TheUpTake.org streamed a live feed of President Barack Obama at www.livestream.com/theuptake, speaking on the recovery efforts in Haiti. Similar to his press conference yesterday, President Obama reiterated the United States’ full support of the relief efforts—and as reported this afternoon, the Obama Administration has pledged $100 million in U.S. aid towards the recovery process.

The United States, Great Britain, as well as many relief organizations have immediately deployed medical services, food, water, and many other basic amenities to aid Haiti. Since Haiti has long been an economically deficient country, the effects of the earthquake have been two-fold – the levels of destruction, homelessness, and hunger are at an all-time high, and are seemingly endless.

blog updates and interviews about the crisis. They have also teamed up with Oxfam, the renown and mainstream relief organization, as they physically help the Haitian victims rebuild and move on.

At 6pm (ET) on Wednesday night, The Voice Project streamed a live event with many Oxfam volunteers at www.livestream.com/voiceproject—including the Director of Oxfam. Oxfam, who has more than 3,000 partners in over 100 countries, is spearheading the reconstruction process in Haiti, providing the local people with both emotional and physical support.
