In 1980, thousands& thousands of political prisoners were brutally murdered by the Iranian government in what has come to be known as "the 1988 Iran massacre". It was the climax of a decade of mass executions in Iran. The summer of 1988 massacre started right after Ayatollah Khoneini's “Fatwa”, his secret order to execute all political prisoners, those who the Islamic Republic of Iran called “moharebs” (those who war against God) and as “mortads“ (apostates from Islam).
